Home About Contact Customers Documents Systems

On this page we'd like to introduce you to customers who are utilising our Nocturnal House Lighting and Climate Control systems. Adena Scientific is proud to be helping each of these customers realise their goal of operating state of the art nocturnal houses that provide the most natural environment possible for the animals to live in and be viewed by visitors. The enclosures are designed and maintained to exacting standards in which the entire ecosystem - plants, invertebrates, and animals - within the enclosure all thrive just as they would be expected to in the wild because the welfare of precious endangered species on display is paramount. For visitors each enclosure presents a scene of beautiful NZ bush or forest, at night, in which you can watch the animals behaving just as they do in the wild.

Please click on the pictures to visit the web sites where you can find out what each attraction offers you. We encourage you to visit these attractions and remember that every visit helps protect and conserve rare and endangered native New Zealand wildlife.

Otorohanga Kiwi House has been helping conserve kiwi and other NZ native wildlife since 1971 through education, research, display and breed-for-release programs. Brown kiwi are on display, and active throughout the day, in nocturnal houses that provide a natural moonlight NZ bush environment for the kiwi. A large collection of other NZ birds and reptiles are also on display including the unique tuatara, a native New Zealand reptile which pre-dates the dinosaurs.

The Kiwi Forest exhibit features brown kiwi on display in a large nocturnal house that provides a natural, night-time, New Zealand forest environment for the kiwi. Kiwi Forest also includes giant weta which are part of Butterfly Creek's breed-for-release program, as well as other native species. The wetland walkway features Asian short-clawed otters and short-finned eels. A beautiful butterfly house is one of several other exhibits and family friendly activities.
